Goog's TrkOysters alog the wayMtFinkeFire at night
Come and join us while we explore and plot co-ordinates of this magnificent part of Australia.

This is a self catered Tag A Long, departing from Ceduna. While the track can be quite sandy it is not that difficult. (We do provide a welcoming and farewell dinner. A Tagalong Adventures tradition).
This excursion is for both the experienced and novice off road traveller alike.

Goog’s Track was named after John (Goog) Denton who envisioned that a road heading from Ceduna to Tarcoola would be of considerable value to the region. Goog decided to undertake this enormous task in 1976 and with the help from his family, the track was finished in around three years.

History and Information on Goog's Track (click here)

After stocking up with some fresh oysters and other goodies in Ceduna, we head north to Goog's Track. the track is approximately 150 Km long running through Yellabinna Regional Reserve.

We fuel up and depart Ceduna fairly early, and wind our way to Goog's Lake where we make camp for the night.
The next day sees us head along the track to the Goog and Dinger monument. More sand dunes and excitement as we travel toward our Mt Finke camp sight.

Mt. Finke finally, the last part is steep and covered in loose rock. The rest is by foot to the peak but well worth the effort over rock and spinifex.

A 30 min climb and you are rewarded with 360 degree views from the cairn at the peak of Mt. Finke. Evidence of visitors here dates back to 1875.

A lovely camp at the base of the mountain, as the evening heavens light up the sky.

Next morning a hearty breakfast before we head to the remarkable Kingoonya Pub. The Kingoonya Hotel is a quaint little ramshackle construction that oozes with outback charm and hospitality. (And not a bad meal either). Check this out - http://www.kingoonya.org.au

After a relaxing night, a great meal and watching the Huge trains, we head north to Coober Pedy via North Well. (subject to road conditions)
Coober Pedy is exciting with it's under ground shops and hotel, mines and dust. A night in the underground hotel is worthwhile.

Next stop. William Creek. This is one of my favourite destinations. The pub and hospitality is right up there with Kingoonya. We'll have a couple of days here. Those that want to, can check out The Painted Desert and Lake Eyre by air. This could be a once in a life time chance to see the lake with water .

Now off down the Oodnadatta Track, following the Old Ghan Rail Route toward Marree.

This pretty much brings us to the completion of the organised part of the trip. Here we will be heading off to other adventures.

This trip is designed to give you an introduction to “outback” travel. And to show you a couple of great little spots you may not otherwise get to visit. Plus see Lake Eyre with water (hopefully).
